Streets to roam in Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence literally overflows with great addresses, so we recommended simply roaming the old paved streets to discover its many pretty boutiques, excellent Provencal eateries and festive venues.
Rue Granet, lined with gorgeous shops and sporting a village atmosphere. You’ll find a wine bar, restaurants and decoration shops here, to name but a few.
Rue Loubon, just behind Rue Granet, is a favourite haunt for locals, home to many bookshops including Le cercle des arts, a café-come-bookshop specialized in art books. And if the walk has made you peckish, settle down at Chez Féraud for a delicious “Soupe au Pistou”, “Daube” stew, “Supions” squid and other typical Provencal dishes.
If you’re here to party, Rue de la Verrerie is home to many bars and pubs and is a favourite haunt for students. If you’re seeking something a little more “caliente”, we definitely recommend Rue Félix Gaut, offering plenty of yummy Latin-style eateries including La Cita, an excellent tapas and sangria restaurant that whisks you straight off to Spain. El Bolero, La Cantina and L’Empanadas Club are also must-do addresses.
